National Walking Day

Get Up and Move!

These days, we’re spending more time at work and sitting in front of a screen than ever before. We’re becoming less active, which can increase our risk of heart disease, stroke and other diseases.

Take the first step to a healthier life by taking part in the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day on the first Wednesday in April. On this day, Americans are encouraged to lace up their sneakers and take 30 minutes out of their day to get up and walk.

Sign up today to receive a complete toolkit of materials and how-to information for workplaces, schools, individuals and community organizations - www.heart.org/NationalWalkingDay

Don’t forget to register to become a Fit-Friendly worksite!  The deadline is 4/1/15 and the application can be found at: www.heart.org/fitfriendly

Yellow Jug Old Drug Program

Started by the Great Lakes Clean Water Organization in 2008, the Yellow Jug Old Drug Program has partnered with Pharmacy Care Solutions in Columbus, Indiana to provide secure and responsible drug disposal.  The Yellow Jug Old Drug Program addresses the fact that there are very limited ways to dispose of unwanted drugs.  Now, consumers can take their unwanted medications to Pharmacy Care Solutions, located at 2323 N. Marr Road, Columbus year-round for a safe disposal option while reducing the amount of chemicals showing up in our water.
The Yellow Jug Old Drug Program not only decreases the volume of expired or unused prescription drugs in our medicine cabinets, it could also have a beneficial impact on the environment and the state’s fresh water supply.
