Help Raise the Bar on financial literacy! During September candy bars will be available at Columbus Centra Credit Union branches for a $1 donation. Proceeds will support financial literacy programs provided by Centra Foundation to second grade and high school students. The programs help children learn important money management skills. Nominations for Inaugural Induction are Being Accepted Through September 1, 2014
The Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame (IMVHOF) is calling for nominations for its first group of honorees.
Its board of directors is compiled of representatives from the business, government and retired military sectors. The Chairman of the board, Russell H. Dowden, Jr., COL, USA (Retired) was inducted into the Arkansas Military Veterans Hall of Fame in 2011 as that is his home state. Now a Hoosier, Mr. Dowden formed the idea of creating a similar organization here.
Up to fifteen veterans will be honored for military service achievements and/or community contributions. To be eligible, a nominee must meet any one of these criteria:
> Been born in Indiana
> Entered military service in Indiana
> Lived in Indiana for a minimum of eight years
All branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, all ages, living or deceased, and males and females will be considered equally. The complete nomination packet and criteria can be found at imvhof.com. Nominations will be accepted through end of day September 1, 2014.
The first induction ceremony will take place on November 7, 2014 at the Garrison at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Lawrence, IN. Event details will be available on the website as it nears.

Dining with Diabetes is a series of classes targeted to persons with or at risk for type 2 diabetes and their families. Harriet Armstrong, Health and Human Science Extension Educator, will be offering two different series of classes. You can visit the Purdue/Bartholomew County Extension website to download a flier and registration form.
The free outdoor concert series will be held in the 300 block of Washington Street. Concerts begin at 5:30 PM on the first Thursday of the month, June through September. The series is offered at no cost to the community through the generous financial support of JCB.
2014 marks the return of JCB NeighborFEST to its original location, outside in the 300 block of Washington Street. The move from Fourth Street reopens connections to The Commons and kidscommons and allows for easier access to the playground [in The Commons], creating a more family-friendly environment.
Thursday, September 4: Terry Lee and the Rockaboogie Band wraps up the 2014 JCB NeighborFEST season with a high energy, first class show built around the lightning fast piano pumpin’, rockaboogie playing of London, England’s Terry Lee. Audience members will be able to jive, bop, two step, and sing the night away.

Centered on the artist-in-residence projects that Indianapolis-based collective We Are City has facilitated since 2012, [EXPORT] shares the group’s city engagement efforts with a new audience in Columbus.[EXPORT] is curated by Laura Holzman, Public Scholar of Curatorial Practices and Visual Art at IUPUI. It features work by Oliver Blank, Jace Clayton, William “Zoe” FitzGerald, James A. Reeves, Rocío Rodríguez Salceda, and Matthew Skjonsberg. [EXPORT] will be on display at the IU Center for Art + Design (IUCA+D) from Friday, September 5 through Wednesday, October 1. Gallery hours are from 1-5pm Tuesdays through Saturdays.
