When Old Houses Become Like Spouses

Nancy Hiller, designer-builder of custom furniture and cabinetry and the author of the book A Home of Her Own, will discuss how making or restoring a home can be a revelatory process, enlightening homeowners as much about themselves as about the structures on which they are working. This phenomenon is all the more evident in cases where a single person–in her book, Hiller focuses on women without partners–is doing the work. In fact, some of the women Hiller interviewed came to see their home as a kind of partner, a development that raises intriguing and rarely posed questions about the meanings of home.

Deadline for applications is June 18, 2013, and artists will be notified of the jury results by July 2. A booth rental fee of $75 must be paid by July 16, 2013. To download more information and an application, visit http://www.kid-at-art.com/htdoc/dejavuentry2013.html.
