The Thrift Shop at the corner of Eighth and California is having a half price sale this week, August 29,30,31. Store hours are Thursday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. To 1:00 p.m. The Thrift Shop is owned and operated by Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Proceeds from the shop go back to the community in the form of scholarships and books for schools, special equipment for the hearing impaired and other community projects in art, literature and music.
This Saturday, August 31 is the East vs. North soccer games at Richard Wigh Soccer Fields with Columbus East being the host school this year.
Boys JV match will be played at 2 pm, Girls JV match will be played at 4 pm
Boys Varsity match will be played at 6 pm and Girls Varsity match will be played at 8 pm.
Beginning 45 minutes prior to the start of each game balloons will be sold with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. The balloons will be released just prior to the start of each game after a brief announcement of the fundraising efforts.

Why: Fundraiser for the Lot Owner’s Assn and the Fire Dept. 75% of the funds raised will go to the fire department.
There will be a live “birds of prey” show as well as a live snake show by “Snakehead Ed.” The Brown County Community Band will also be playing. Food selections include beef and pork BBQ sandwiches, corn on the cob, lemon shake-ups. There will be vendor booths featuring local businesses and there will also be a silent auction with great items on which to bid!
The 27th Annual Our Hospice of South Central Indiana concert will be held August 31, 2013 at 6:30 pm. This year’s concert will be held at the Mill Race Park Custer-Nugent Amphitheater. Admission is free, but there will be a raffle. $10 raffle tickets will enter you to win $10,000. There will also be food and t-shirts!
This year’s headliner: Tommy James and the Shondelles! The band, Groove Essential from Indianapolis will open. You’ll know Tommy’s hits, “Hanky Panky,” “Mony, Mony,” & “Crimson and Clover.”
The evening will conclude with fireworks!
