Make an ornament to honor a veteran or current member of the military. Ornaments can contain a photo and/or name of your veteran and any other decorations you wish to add. Or, you can pick up a paper ornament in the shape of a dog tag at the library. The Heroes Tree will go up at the library on November 11th and stay in place through the end of the year.
The Brown County Women’s Resource Center is launching a support group for women and men affected by suicide. The first meeting for Survivors of Suicide (SOS) will be Saturday November 16th from 6 to 8pm. The group will meet weekly on Saturday evenings from 6 to 8pm at the Women’s Resource Center in Nashville at 1156 Old State Road 46.
The purpose of SOS is to give people a secure place to ask questions, share their feelings, receive individual support, or help linking up to resources. Participation is cost-free. The group is organized and led by Carrie Foley, a certified counselor who runs the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) and Carisa Whittall, returning Brown County resident. Both have been caregivers to their families after a suicide.
