Make an ornament to honor a veteran or current member of the military. Ornaments can contain a photo and/or name of your veteran and any other decorations you wish to add. Or, you can pick up a paper ornament in the shape of a dog tag at the library. The Heroes Tree will go up at the library on November 11th and stay in place through the end of the year.
Organized by the local NAACP the program will cover the seven Principles of Kwanzaa and how they can be supported. Guest Speaker is April Ige also known as “Renaiss”. She will discuss her second book of poems. A former corporate engineer and self-proclaimed “consummate dreamer”, April has been blessed with the gift to take tragedy and transform it into inspiration. She defines her life purpose as being an encourager for those needing hope, help, and healing on their journeys towards the pursuit, and ultimate capture, of their dreams. After the program there will be feast in the Conference Room. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish.
