An exhibit of Book Art from the students of the Herron School of Art & Design, IUPUI in Indianapolis

The exhibit is free and open to the public for viewing in the cases on the second floor of The Commons, 300 Washington Street, Columbus, Indiana, from May 28 through June 30, whenever the Commons is not reserved for private events. The public is invited to meet the artists to learn more about their work at a reception in their honor on Tuesday, June 24, 6:00–7:30 PM at the upper level of the Commons.

Free to Breathe Run/Walk

Register, raise funds, and run or walk – that’s all it takes to be a hero in the eyes of a person facing lung cancer. Join hundreds of community members as they gather for a day of impact at the Indianapolis Free to Breathe Run/Walk on June 14 at Fort Harrison State Park. The inspirational event will feature a 5K run and walk and 1-mile walk for all fitness levels.

All proceeds from the event support Free to Breathe, a nonprofit lung cancer research and advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring surviving lung cancer is the expectation, not the exception. Help us double lung cancer survival by 2022! To register and begin fundraising, visit

Artists Needed for Annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show

Artists are being sought for the annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show, which will be held at The Commons in Columbus, Indiana on Saturday, November 15, 2014. Because the show is held in celebration of America Recycles Day, all work exhibited is to be made of, at least in part, scrap or repurposed materials. A few applicants who create their work from natural or sustainable materials will be accepted as well.


Those who are interested in exhibiting are to submit digital photos and an application in order to be juried. Deadline for applications is June 17. Artists will be notified of the jury results by July 8. Keeping Your Brain Healthy

Dr. Yuko Yamato, neuropsychologist at Columbus Regional Hospital, will cover how to keep your brain healthy and proactive strategies for preserving optimal thinking abilities.  She will also cover dementia diagnosis and treatment and take questions.
