Clay Township VFD Fish Fry & Tractor Pull
The Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a fish fry & tractor pull on June 14 at 5:00 pm. Money raised will be used for the fire department.
Bigfoot/Sasquatch
Larry Battson, a wildlife educator and founder of Wildlife Educational Services in Greencastle, will talk about Sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot. Battson will discuss the “real possibility of a rare and relatively unknown creature that may roam the forests of North America.” Battson has been studying Bigfoot for 30 years and travels the country to research the alleged sightings. Battson has been featured by History Channel’s MonsterQuest and has presented programs for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This will be his third visit to the library.

Indiana’s Covered Bridges
Marsha Mohr will talk about her book, Indiana Covered Bridges, and her photographs that capture the simple beauty of these bridges. A symbol of Indiana’s past, the covered bridge still evokes feelings of nostalgia, romance, and even mystery. Over 500 of these handsome structures spanned the streams, rivers, and ravines of Indiana during the 19th century, now fewer than 100 remain. Sponsored by the Bartholomew County Library Associates.

Local Author – Joseph LaFauci
In his new book Wanted in Hell: Named in Heaven, LaFauci deals with questions such as is there a God? Is there a devil? Do miracles happen? He also discusses the nature of God which at times seems contradictory. LaFauci will chat about his book and answer questions during this session. The author has been involved in biblical research for over thirty-five years.

Free to Breathe Indianapolis
Champion the lung cancer cause by registering today for the Inaugural Indianapolis 5K Run/Walk & 1-Mile Walk on June 22 at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. The inspirational event will bring the community together to raise funds that will fuel groundbreaking research necessary for making the dramatic breakthroughs in early detection and treatment that can save lives.

Cierra’s Hope Fundraiser
Cierra is 6 years old and was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s in November of 2012. She is the daughter of Mike and Marci McCauley and there will be a benefit to help raise money to help offset medical cost and travel expenses. Come join in on the fun for a great cause! Pulled pork dinner starting at 12:00 noon. A corn hole tournament will start at 2:00 pm (there will be small entry fee), a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and lots of music and good times!

Groundbreaking Music and Social Change: Negro Spirituals
Information professional and spiritualist Madelyn Shackelford Washington will highlight the importance of music being studied as a cultural phenomenon. This lecture-demonstration will explore how Spirituals and their emotional and cognitive impacts have been fundamental to the construction of certain social movement cultures. Our presenter is an Assistant Librarian at the University Library of Columbus and a well-seasoned musician, singer and choreographer.
