Family Fun Days: Pioneer Olympics

 

School is out and it is time to play! Ever hear of Rounders, French & English, 9 Man’s Morris, or Graces? You can try your hand at these and more with challenging active games for the whole family. While we won’t give out medals, you are sure to feel like a star athlete when you are competing on the Pioneer Olympics.

$5 for public, $3 for members

We take for granted how neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night keeps our letter carriers from making their rounds, but have you considered what a hassle it would be to drive a wagon to town to pick up your mail?  We will learn how rural families in Bartholomew County enjoyed the nation’s first rural free delivery postal service.  You will even get to design your own stamp! Our Saturday Samplers are monthly family friendly workshops catered towards small children.

Family Fun Days: Campfire Cooking

Get ready to churn butter and mix cornbread. We are going to cook like a pioneer. We will work together to make a hardy frontier meal using hearth cooking techniques and historic recipes, then sit down and enjoy are fixins. There will be vegetarian sides, but the main course will have meat. Nothing will be vegan.

$8 for adults, $5 for children, Members $6 for adults and $3 for children
