Saturday Sampler: Honk! Honk! Cars in Columbus

May is the month of speed in Indiana, and Columbus has an exciting legacy of racing. We also have a great history of all types of cars and even manufactured an eight wheeled automobile!  Learn all about Bartholomew County’s love affair with autos, and even try your hand at a car craft.  Beep! Beep!  Here we go! Our Saturday Samplers are monthly family friendly workshops catered towards small children.

Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease: The Basics

alzProgram is designed to help you understand the difference between normal age-related memory changes and more serious memory problems that should be evaluated by a medical professional. Other topics covered include the common causes of memory loss, risk factors, and the importance of accurate diagnosis. Videos of physicians, individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, and caregivers are incorporated into the program. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana.

Long Term Care Planning

What would you do if you or a loved one had to go into a nursing home or required assisted living? How would you pay for it? Can we choose the facility? Discussing what may happen to us when we age is not always a pleasant topic but a reality we must face. Gabriel Thomas of Alpha Financial Services will discuss what Long Term Care insurance is and what it will and will not cover. He will also discuss the various options that exist for coverage and other strategies that may help offset the costs of long term care.

Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia presentation

1 out of every 9 people over age 65 has Alzheimer’s Disease & may require expensive care at home or in a nursing home. Local elder law attorneys from Voelz Law, LLC., will discuss legal & financial planning for individuals who have Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia. Golf Instruction Made Simple for Everyone

JEFFsmithJeff Smith, PGA Professional, Director of Instruction at Otter Creek and Plane and Simple Golf School, will provide tips on improving your golf game including swinging the club, short shots, understanding playing strategies and your mental attitude.  Do not bring your golf clubs with you.  Jeff has been at Otter Creek since 2010 and has been nominated for Teacher of the Year in Indiana 4 times and has taught over 12, 500 lesson hours since 1994.
