Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District (BCSWMD) reserves the last two Wednesday’s in March for free Senior Loading of mulch or compost. Senior citizens of Bartholomew County are welcome to stop by the District office for a pick-up truck size load of mulch or compost free of charge.
This year’s event will occur on Wednesday, March 19th and Wednesday, March 26th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. As always residents are welcome to self-load mulch or compost any time throughout the year during BCSWMD normal operational hours; Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The students at CSA Fodrea Elementary have taken it upon themselves to raise money and awareness for the Humane Society of Columbus, Indiana. This walk is the student’s way of giving back to our community’s Human Society. We are raising money to help the Humane Society build their new facilities and care for our community’s pets.

FLEECED – SPEAKING Out AGAINST SENIOR FINANCIAL ABUSE is a documentary produced in cooperation between WFYI Public Media and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. This program reveals what can happen to older adults when their trust is undermined by con artists, unscrupulous sales people and risky financial investments. The program also reveals how older Americans are fighting back and becoming powerful advocates for reform.

Motorcyle Ride and Celebration benefiting The American Cancer Society. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Mann’s Harley Davidson. Balloon release and ride begins at 1 p.m. Ride costs $20/rider and $35/rider-passenger, which includes lunch (11a.m.-12:30pm), shirt(s) and raffle entry. Ride is approx. 90 miles through Bartholomew, Brown, Johnson and Shelby County. Ride ends at The Moose in Columbus and event celebration begins which is open to participants.
