RE/MAX Real Estate Professionals is proud to sponsor the 11th Annual RE/MAX / RILEY Golf for Kids Outing. This year’s event will be held on Friday, September 19 at Harrison Lake Country Club with a shotgun start at 12:00.
There are several ways to help the kids. You can play as an individual or put together a team. The $100 fee will cover golf, cart, lunch and beverages. You may also help by sponsoring a beverage stand, food station, tee sign, or as a Riley Partner. All sponsors will be recognized at the event. To sign up, call RE/MAX at 812-372-2200.

The Edinburgh Sons of American Legion Post 233 Scholarship Golf Outing is September 14, at Timbergate Golf Course. There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 am. $240 per team, available to the first 36 teams by September 7. Prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. 4th place will be awarded based on blind draw.

For the 9th consecutive year, St. Peter’s Lutheran School 8th grade class will host the “Sprint with the Spirit 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Run/Walk.” The event will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 8:00 a.m. This run/walk is one in a series of events organized by the 8th grade class each year to raise money for a trip to Washington D.C.
Packet Pick-up and Race Day :Registration is from 7:00 – 7:45 AM in the St. Peter’s School Lobby. 5K Race begins promptly at 8:00 AM. Family Fun Run begins after the 5K Race starts. Course Certified by USA Track & Field.

The Seymour Area Youth Football League (SAYFL) is a new elementary tackle football league this year based in Seymour (no traveling). The league is open to all area kids entering 3rd-6th grade. There will be a 3rd/4th grade division and a 5th/6th grade division. A “combine” will be held to choose even teams based on size and talent level. K-2nd grade flag football will still be organized through the high school program and is not affiliated with SAYFL.
Our mission is to teach fundamentals (including USA Football’s Heads Up Tackling) along with leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect. Our vision is to bring our community together in a safe atmosphere and strive to become better neighbors, coaches, parents, fans, and supporters of our local football programs. USA Football’s Heads Up Tackling is a national certification program that each coach (head and assistants for each team) is required to complete to learn proper tackling fundamentals to reduce the likelihood of concussions. We have a Players’ Safety Coach that completes training by USA Football, will train all the league’s coaches, and be present during game days to ensure safety techniques are being followed.
We have some upcoming registration dates listed below. The fee is $130/child and that includes all equipment except cleats. This fee is due before the first practice which is tentatively scheduled for the week of August 25th (coaches will finalize their own schedules for each team). The child will also be properly sized for equipment at that time. Sign up sheets will be available but can also be found on the website. We are currently looking for more coaches. Coaches are required to complete an application, have a background check, and participate in a coaches’ clinic put on by Seymour’s Head Varsity Football Coach to learn the rule book, play book, and proper coaching techniques. Coaches’ applications will be available at the sign ups and can be found on the website as well.
