Columbus Youth hockey & Bryan Ritz memorial Scholarship Fund was started in memory of Bryan Ritz, a former Columbus Icemen, who lost his life in an automobile accident. The intent is to give children who are economically disadvantaged the opportunity to become acquainted with hockey through the house league or continue to develop and play more competitive hockey in the travel team program. The Bryan Ritz Memorial scholarship Fund is administered by the Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County.

It’s back! Join us for the DARE 2014 Golf Tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course on August 1, 2014. Lunch starts at 11:15, and the shotgun start at 1:00 pm. The winning team receives FREE steak dinners for a year from Texas Roadhouse! Come out to have fun and work on your swing all while supporting our kids and the local DARE program. Help support Jennings County Youth Foundation (JCYF) by participating in the 5K walk/run fundraising event. JCYF is a 501 (C) (3), nonprofit organization and all proceeds will help raise awareness, offer hope, and provide opportunities for the youth of Jennings County.

The World Cup Soccer matches brought about a renewed interest in this sport. Mark Bridgeman, Director of Technical Training for Columbus Express Soccer, will provide an introduction to the tactics and techniques of soccer. The basic rules of soccer will be covered along with the positions and number of players on the field for each team and other aspects of the game. Bridgeman played soccer at North Carolina State University and with Cincinnati Donauschwaben. He holds a USSF “C” coaching license, and teaches in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Ivy Tech in Columbus.

The Columbus Challenge is more than a race. It is an event! Come out to cheer on your favorite athlete, enjoy great music, and watch your kids enjoy the bounce house and portable gym!
Individual and team registrations are available, with sprint and olympic distances.
Volunteers are needed at water stops, registration, hospitality/post race food, traffic control, body marking, photography, and other areas.
The event benefits the Foundation For Youth scholarship fund.
