Dancers Studio Spring Concert

The Spring Concert will feature modern and contemporary works by several choreographers. Robert McFarland, formerly with the Louisville Ballet,is creating a work to the music of Phillip Glass. George Salinas, formerly with Dance Kalideoscope, is creating another cutting edge athletic piece. Amanda Lahti, formerly with the Louisville Ballet, is choregraphing two works for the upper level dancers. Joe Musiel , soon to be a graduate from the I.U. Modern Dance Program, is choreographing a duet for Gwen Klienhenz and Tori Prestel. Brooke Wyatt, formerly an outreach instructor with American Ballet Theatre, is working with twelve talented, younger dancers. Rounding out the first half of the concert will be “Two for Tom” by director, Alma Wiley.

Featured in the second half The Spring Concert will be “A Mixed-Up Fairy Tale Ballet.” Messy Matilda wanders into the Smiling Dog Costume Shoppe after a not so successful ballet class and then the magic begins. Matilda is excited to be chosen as the lead in several ballets, but the stories do not go as they should. After all Prince Charming resembles a wolf and there is a Fairy Godmother but there is also a Furry Godmother. There are monkeys in tutus, a mouse that is too big, and even a sewing machine that comes to life, So-in-Sew. In the end, the dance teacher finds her and she decides to work harder in class.
