On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong stepped down the ladder of the lunar module ‘Eagle’ and uttered the immortal words “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”. That day marked one of the greatest achievements in the history of human civilization.

This presentation will relive those moments and discuss the behind‐the‐scenes events that made this monumental achievement possible. Presenters Greg McCauley and Dave Hudson worked as NASA contractors at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston in the Mission Planning and Analysis Division for the lunar missions of Apollo 15 and 16, and were members of the Lunar Launch Team for Apollo 17.
