2) Buzzfeed charts. What is with these?!? I love them so much and there are so many! You open one and then 5 more are linked at the end of the one you just read…it’s a vicious cycle kids…don’t try it unless you have lots of time to kill!
So you can bet I was quite excited with a Facebook friend of mine posted this GLORIOUS link:
One of my life’s mantras is a quote from Ellen DeGeneres: “If you can’t dance at work, then why work?”
I attended a wedding reception last night and I danced the night away. Even though I will never be able to audition for “So You Think You Can Dance,” due to lack of real talent, I do not let that stop me from shakin’ my groove thing every chance I get! When I am in the studio here at QMIX, I stand up when I am on air. That allows me to dance SO much more when a great song comes on!
And, I feel that dancing just makes the day go better. So, I encourage you to DANCE. Car dance. Chair dance. Zumba dance. Living room dance. Rain dance. Whatever, however you do it, just DANCE!
Here are a couple of my favorite dance videos from the web. Enjoy!
It’s official ya’ll… SPRING/SUMMER/warmer temps are HERE!
I know what you may be thinking… the first day of spring was in March silly… and we’ve been randomly enjoying warm temps and sunshine since then…sooo you are tardy to the party Miss Sara Beth…
And I would come back at that and say NOPE!
Sure, there are great things that contribute to the signs of spring….
the smell of fresh cut grass….
PS!! These are from my house that I planted last FALL! Super excited! Except they look NOTHING like the picture on the packet! The Pink/purple/yellow one was supposed to be dark purple and the red wasn’t supposed to have the frayed edges…OH WELL! I PLANTED SOMETHING THAT DIDN’T DIE! HAHA!
All these are great. BUT…the OFFICIAL SIGN of SPRING/SUMMER is coming is THIS!!!!
Not just ANY pasta salad, this is my mom’s pasta salad… and it is ridiculously delicious. Super simple too- tri-color pasta with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, green peppers, green onions, and a super simple dressing of oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and dried oregano. THAT’S IT! but something just magically happens as it sits- it’s like pasta salad faeries take over and add all the awesomeness. There is no other pasta salad like it (believe me I’ve tasted!). I seriously devour this anytime she makes it.(except I don’t eat the olives or green peppers…but they add flavor! haha)
Anyways- THIS is my sign of warmer days ahead and I couldn’t be more excited!
What’s your favorite Sign of Spring/Summer/Warmer weather ahead?
With all of the events that have been happening lately and the serious of the news, I find myself looking to places for humor and to brighten up my day. It’s not that I want to forget or numb myself from what’s going on, it is just that humor has always been my way of dealing with things. I find it easier to reflect and appreciate what I have after a good laugh.
If you are like me, please take a second to look at these videos that, yes, while some of them are at other people’s misfortune, they are laughing as well – so it’s okay!
So last night I played Designer Purse Bingo. It was the 4th Annual fundraiser for Phi Beta Psi sorority, with proceeds benefiting cancer research. This was my 2nd go round and and it didn’t disappoint. These ladies mean BUSINESS. It’s the most intense 2 1/2 hours of my year… no question.
I didn’t come home with one of the BIG designers, but I did manage to score a little Steve Madden bag during the raffle drawings. I also walked away with a terrible case of bingo arm.
It’s a rare condition thought to be cause by people daubing their bingo sheets on the wrong side first. As my friend Allison said, “This isn’t Hebrew. In English we read from left to right – same rules apply to bingo.” While my dauber tattoo isn’t permanent, the memories sure are. Designer Purse Bingo is a blast and a half and I strongly encourage you to get your gals (or guys) together and participate next year. You’ll be glad you did.
Sidenote: Did you know if you do an image search for the words “bingo” and “mad” this is what you’ll find?
I’m super excited about the new music I added to QMIX this week! OK, I’m excited about ANY new music I get to add to QMIX, but this week seems extra awesome, at least in my opinion… .
It’s great being a Music Director for a radio station…you should try it sometime!
Anyways- below are the songs that you should be listening for on QMIX. Please welcome them with open arms and make sure that hug lasts for a count of 10, because only then does it count as a real hug. (Name that reference!)
Imagine Dragons- “Radioactive”
Sound familiar? Yes it’s from the soundtrack of “The Host.” I don’t care what your feelings are towards the works of Stephenie Meyer, if you haven’t heard this song yet give it a listen NOW!
Sidebar: Isn’t that video RIDICULOUS?!? Lou Diamond Phillips?!? Stuffed Animals FIGHTING?!? Laser Eyes? Mind Grapes BLOWN!
Anyways- that song I’m sure will be added to your work-out playlist- along with this one….
Fall Out Boy- “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light ‘em Up)
THEY ARE BACK!
I’m super ridiculously excited for this album. Just when we all thought Fall Out Boy was done, they go and record a brand new album in secret and announced back in February that it will be released April 15th. (EEP!)
If you love this, check out the rest of the album on their Facebook page. The whole album is great, but I’ve been playing the Title Track “Save Rock and Roll” feat. Elton John on repeat. Check it out!
I hope you enjoy hearing these new tunes (along with others) along with all your familiar favorites!
Academy Award Nominee and Emmy Winner Melissa McCarthy [Megan from "Bridesmaids" & Molly from TVs "Mike & Molly] hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend and she was amazing – again. I have been a fan of Melissa since her “Gilmore Girls” [Yes! That's Sookie!]. Now, I adore her even more, and I wish that she would make good movies. Her sense of humor just makes my heart smile. Maybe she’ll have a Sandra Bullock Oscar story one day.
I tried to post a GIF from Tumblr, but was dumbfounded on what Tumblr is and how it works. So I am adding this picture.
Three things that I learned from this week’s SNL:
1. Melissa McCarthy is the funniest lady this side of Amy Poehler.
2. If you don’t catch things live, NBC will cut out the good parts on their website’s playback.
Today was a day of many firsts for me! My first blog post, and more importantly my first trip to Zaharako’s here in beautiful downtown Columbus. The atmosphere of the olde-fashioned soda shoppe [see what I did there...?] hearkens back to a simpler time in our zeitgeist and offers a sense of wonderment, from the Tiffany-style chandelier and marble soda fountains to the whimsical tables and music of the Welte orchestrian. I would love to go back in time to spend a week in the decade that Zaharako’s opened – the early 1900s. Just to talk with the people and enjoy the latest in soda shoppe wonders.
Also, why is it that when you have ice cream, you just want to mush it around to create ice cream soup? Or is it just me? I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
