Opening reception for the We Are City [EXPORT] exhibition on Friday, September 5, from 6 – 8pm at the Indiana University Center for Art+Design in Columbus.
The IU Center for Art+Design is pleased to present [EXPORT] an exhibition centered on the artist-in-residence projects facilitated by the Indianapolis based collective We Are City. [EXPORT] will be on view at the IUCA+D gallery in Columbus from September 5 through October 1, 2014.
How can you understand your city more deeply? [EXPORT] shows how six internationally active artists, in conversation with Indianapolis residents, answered that question. Featuring these artists’ visual, audio, linguistic, and material responses to their time in the city, as well as other documentation of We Are City activities, [EXPORT] shares their engagement efforts with Columbus.
[EXPORT] features work by Oliver Blank, Jace Clayton, William Zoe FitzGerald, James Reeves, Rocio Salceda, and Matthew Skjonsbergand is guest curated by Laura Holzman, Public Scholar of Curatorial Practices and Visual Art at IUPUI.
The exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1pm – 5pm

Grab your lawn chair, some sunscreen (although there’s lots of shade), your appetite and head out to High Point Orchard on Saturday, September 6th. The Arts and Cultural Council of Decatur County and beautiful, scenic and comfortable High Point Orchard.
Gates open at 3:00 pm. On stage for your entertainment through the evening will be Those Lazy Cabineers of Decatur County at 4:00 pm, The Tillers at 6:00 pm, Bad Veins at 8:00 and The Almighty Get Down at 10:00. Michael Nahmias, official emcee for Moontree Music Fest, will be tickling your funny bone all evening with his hilarious take on the world-at-large during intermissions.

The Boy Scout Troop 529 of Seymour, Indiana is having a fundraiser pancake breakfast on September 6, 2014 at First United Methodist Church 201 E. 3rd Street Seymour Indiana, from 7 am till noon. The cost is $8.00 in advance, which may be purchased from a Scout of 529 or $10.00 at the door. The troop is trying to raise money to attend Bechtel Boy Scout Camp in Virginia.

Come early and stay late to browse and buy from a delicious mix of recycled household items, decorative accessories, gently used clothing, tools electronics, toys, books, games and sporting goods. Refresh yourself at the Sweet Shop with wonderful homemade cakes, cookies, cupcakes and really good coffee. Proceeds of the yard sale will benefit St. Paul’s Outreach programs in Southern Sudan, Brazil, Haiti, and here in Bartholomew County.
