FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College Board of Trustees has appointed Kerry Prather as acting president of the college, effective immediately. He has worked with the school for the last 37 years.

He began his career at Franklin College in 1982 as an assistant basketball coach, was promoted to head coach in 1984, and became athletic director in 1990. Prather is responsible for a lot of progress within the athletic department, including the building of new facilities.

Prather said, “For nearly 40 years, the Prather family has made Franklin College home. I have been proud to serve a variety of roles, including at the cabinet-level in four administrations. I assume this position with enthusiasm because I believe strongly in the incredible people who do transformational work with our students.”

The search for Franklin College’s next president is underway. Former President Thomas Minar was terminated on Monday because of an alleged sex scandal.
