Bargersville Town Council approves new warning sirens purchase

Courtesy-Town of Bargersville

BARGERSVILLE, Ind. - At its meeting last week, the Bargersville Town Council approved the procurement of new warning sirens for the Town.

Earlier this year, the South Street siren was repaired and successfully tested, but then experienced another failure. After multiple attempts to repair the siren, it was recommended, in the taxpayer’s best interest, to replace the South Street siren and all others.

The Town Council approved an Outdoor Warning Siren replacement plan during their meeting on June 9. This plan authorized the purchase of new sirens to replace all the current sirens at a cost not to exceed $250,000.

Bargersville officials are currently working with the vendor to coordinate the installation of the new sirens.

Residents are encouraged to have multiple methods of receiving severe weather notifications, including:

  • Wireless Emergency Alerts on your smartphone
  • A trusted weather app with emergency notifications turned on
  • A NOAA Weather Radio
  • Local television and radio weather broadcasts
