EDINBURGH, Ind. - Edinburgh Correctional Facility will become the first correctional institution to implement "The 4P’s of Freedom," a new reentry program created by author, educator, U.S. Navy veteran, and entrepreneur Trunnis Goggins II.

The sessions are based on his personal-development book, "The 4P’s of You," which applies its four principles—Purpose, Planning, Passion, and Persistence—to help incarcerated individuals prepare for a successful return to their families and communities.

Participants will focus on developing a positive sense of identity, setting realistic employment, education, housing, and family goals, building accountability, and preparing for setbacks after release.

The inaugural program at Edinburgh Correctional Facility will take place on September 4 and 5. Indiana is the first step in a broader effort, with Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina also being explored.

The first phase is a 16-hour program helping participants identify their purpose, develop a realistic plan, reconnect with their passion, and strengthen the persistence needed to move forward successfully.

There is also a second 16-hour phase that focuses more specifically on life outside of prison, helping them prepare for employment, housing, family responsibilities, decision-making, support systems, and the challenges they may face after release.

The course is designed for individuals who are approximately three to six months away from their release date. It is not intended to be an ongoing program throughout their entire incarceration. Instead, it provides concentrated preparation during the important period leading up to reentry.

Edinburgh Correctional Facility, a minimum-security work camp situated within Camp Atterbury, is located on Schoolhouse Road in Edinburgh.
