Harrell promoted to GFD Assistant Chief of Operations

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Greenwood Fire Department (GFD) recently announced the promotion of Chris Harrell to the rank of Assistant Chief of Operations.

On Tuesday, June 30, Mayor Mark W. Myers stopped by and formally presented Harrell with his new shield at a departmental ceremony.

GFD congratulated Harrell on the well-earned promotion, symbolizing the next step in his career.

Harrell is a long-time veteran of the department who previously served as the Division Chief of Training. In that role, he helped lead the department's training division and was recognized as the Fire Instructor of the Year at the 2025 Indiana Fire and EMS Leadership Conference.
