WHITELAND, Ind. - (UPDATE): Whiteland officials have released the name of the man who died in the two-vehicle wreck at U.S. 31 and Whiteland Road on Monday afternoon. Medical and Whiteland Fire personnel at the scene determined that the driver who perished was Danny Fine, 72, of Indianapolis.
At this time, the cause of death appears to be related to a medical event, but the cause and manner of death remain pending until the results of testing by the Johnson County Coroner.
(ORIGINAL STORY) - The Whiteland Police Department (WPD), along with assisting agencies, responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Whiteland Road on Monday, August 10, just before 4 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found one male driver deceased at the scene. His identity will be released following notification of the next of kin.
The other male driver involved was transported to Franciscan Health St. Francis for evaluation.
The WPD investigation remains ongoing, and investigators are continuing their work to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the accident. The intersection was closed for several hours.
