SEYMOUR/COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post and other first responders were called to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Thursday, August 20, at 7:30 a.m., on State Road 11 near County Road 800S in southern Bartholomew County.

The initial investigation indicated that a Pontiac G6 driven by a 17-year-old Columbus girl was northbound on State Road 11, crossed the centerline, and struck a southbound Hyundai Sonata driven by Aparicio Martin-Bartolome, 18, of Seymour.

The cars collided nearly head-on in the southbound lane of State Road 11. After the collision, both vehicles left the roadway before coming to rest.

A front seat passenger in Martin-Bartolome’s car, Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, 42, of Seymour, sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Pontiac was transported to an Indianapolis-area hospital with serious injuries. Martin-Bartolome was taken to Columbus Regional Health, and a 15-year-old juvenile passenger in the rear seat of the Sonata was transported to an Indianapolis-area hospital for treatment.

The investigation by the ISP-Crash Reconstruction Team is ongoing. Toxicology results are pending.
