City of Columbus approves Carr Hill road extension

Courtesy-City of Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. - The City of Columbus has awarded a $290,305 contract to Walls Excavating LLC for the Carr Hill Road extension project.

The infrastructure improvement will add roughly 350 to 400 feet of new roadway to Carr Hill Road, connecting the unnamed access road between German American Bank and the Speedway gas station, on the north side of Jonathan Moore Pike, to the new Columbus Gateway development.

To ensure oversight during construction, the Board of Public Works and Safety also approved a task order with Strand Associates for up to 200 hours of part-time observation services, capped at $35,000.

Strand will serve as the city's representative on-site to ensure all construction plans and specifications are followed.

The extension project will help improve access and connectivity in the growing commercial area on the city's west side.
