GREENWOOD, Ind. — City officials officially introduced the proposed 2027 municipal budget at Monday evening's Greenwood Common Council meeting, outlining key updates to public safety and civilian employee compensation.
City Controller Greg Wright presented the overview, highlighting a proposed transition that converts a previous $1,000 stipend for civilian employees into a permanent base salary increase, accompanied by a 5% cost-of-living adjustment.
For public safety personnel, the budget introduces a new experience-based pay matrix for police and fire departments designed to build up certified base salaries over six years.
The city's finance department website has posted the itemized proposed budget details. A formal public hearing on the budget and proposed tax rates is scheduled for October 5.
