Columbus Board of Works addresses Fire Station repairs, approves $67K masonry contract

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety addressed maintenance updates for two local fire stations, approving a masonry repair contract and restarting the bidding process for a roof replacement on Tuesday, August 25.

During public comment, a contractor requested to withdraw a prior bid for Fire Station 1 masonry repairs following a discussion regarding sidewalk specifications and performance concerns. The board accepted the withdrawal and voted to award the $67,611 contract to the next lowest bidder, Western Specialty Contractors.

The board also rejected all bids for roofing work at Fire Station 3 due to a communication error that left materials out of the submitted proposals.

Officials approved issuing a new Request for Proposals (RFP) open to flexible material options to secure a 30-year roof for the facility.
