COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested an Elizabethtown man following a report of intimidation with a firearm at a local Walmart on Thursday, January 29.
At 10:54 a.m., officers responded to the Columbus Walmart on Whitefield Drive just before 11 a.m., after a caller said someone pointed a firearm at her.
When police arrived, they questioned the victim and a witness. CPD was told that a man in a Jeep opened his door and allegedly pointed a handgun at a woman in the parking lot after she drove past his truck. The two vehicles did not collide but came close.
The man then drove out of the parking lot. A witness obtained the license plate. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop near US31 and County Road 100 S. The driver was detained, and a revolver was supposedly found inside the Jeep.
As a result of the investigation, Tadd Martin, 44, was booked on the preliminary charges of pointing a firearm (level 6 felony) and intimidation with a deadly weapon (level 5 felony).
