GREENSBURG, Ind. - Members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force served a search warrant in the 1200 block of N. Carver Street in Greensburg on Thursday morning, May 28, following an investigation involving a Greensburg resident allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material.
ICAC initiated the investigation after receiving multiple cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about a particular internet account likely in possession of child sexual abuse material.
Detectives worked to identify the account's owner and to confirm that the media was child sexual abuse material. The suspect was identified as Chad Bowen, 33, of Greensburg.
After serving the warrant, Bowen was arrested and transported to the Decatur County Jail, where he is preliminarily charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (Level 5 Felony).
The ICAC Task Force is a multiagency group led by the Indiana State Police. It serves to conduct investigations into reports of child sexual exploitation, enticement by predators, the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, apprehend and prosecute offenders, and educate the public on how to prevent online child victimization.
Each year, ICAC evaluates thousands of tips, investigates hundreds of cases, and rescues dozens of children from ongoing sexual abuse.
Hoosiers are encouraged to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the NCMEC. The NCMEC website can be accessed through the Indiana ICAC Task Force website. To report a crime with your child as a victim involving the Internet, contact your local Indiana law enforcement agency.
