EDINBURGH, Ind. — Public safety equipment and municipal fleet needs were key topics at the September 28 Edinburgh Town Council meeting, resulting in a vehicle purchase approval and an inter-agency police car donation.
The council approved $49,842 for the purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado for Town Manager John Meyers.
The truck replaces a damaged Dodge Durango struck by a falling tree, with a $13,000 insurance settlement helping offset the Town's net cost.
In a separate action, Police Chief Doyne Little received approval to donate a decommissioned 2019 Dodge Charger police cruiser to the nearby Trafalgar Police Department. He explained that Trafalgar’s small department faced a severe fleet shortage after a reserve vehicle engine blew out.
