BATESVILLE, Ind. - The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post investigated a two-vehicle crash in eastern Ripley County on Monday, July 6, at 5:30 p.m., that claimed the life of a Decatur County motorcyclist.
The initial investigation determined that a car driven by Debora Peters, 64, of Milan, was eastbound on East State Road 350, just east of Milan near the Dearborn County Line. Her vehicle slowed for another car that was making a turn and was struck from behind by an eastbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle being driven by Augustus Reichman, 55, of Greensburg.
As a result of the collision, Reichman sustained fatal injuries. EMS transported him to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, where he was pronounced deceased. Peters was not injured in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing. Toxicology results are pending, although alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors.
Due to the crash involving a fatality, ISP Crash Reconstructionists are conducting the accident investigation.
