COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Bartholomew County Historical Society invites you to attend the third Evelyn Seward Speaker Series event of 2026 on October 8, when paranormal investigator, writer, and researcher Matthew D. Jackson presents "Haunted History and Lore of Bartholomew County."
The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Helen Haddad Hall, 315 Franklin St., in downtown Columbus. Admission is free thanks to funding from the Evelyn Seward Speaker Series Endowment.
At Haunted History and Lore of Bartholomew County, Jackson will share stories he has uncovered through years of research into the intersection of haunted history and unexplained experiences.
Since 2009, Jackson has explored the haunted histories and paranormal claims surrounding several local landmarks, including the Crump Theatre, Cleo Rogers Memorial Library, and other historic Columbus buildings, often digging through old newspapers, archives, property histories, and forgotten stories.
He approaches the paranormal as an invitation to look more closely at history, not as proof of what happened, but as another reason to keep asking questions about the people, places, and stories we might otherwise forget.
