NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office conducted a narcotics investigation in North Vernon on Friday afternoon, August 21. Deputies applied for and were granted a search warrant for a residence in the 1200 block of Country Manor Street.
They executed the warrant and allegedly located methamphetamine, a handgun, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and substances in violation of the Legend Drug Act. Of particular concern to investigators, the items were reportedly located directly next to an area where a child sleeps.
As a result, Brianna Deaton, 29, and Michael Deaton, 30, both of North Vernon, were taken into custody. Their bonds were posted at $3155 each.
The charges for the two suspects were the same:
- Neglect of a Dependent (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Methamphetamine with a Firearm (Level 5 Felony)
- Legend Drug Violation (Level 6 Felony)
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)
