SEYMOUR, Ind. - Legal Aid/Pro Bono Indiana announces a free Legal Aid Walk-In Clinic for Jackson County on Wednesday, June 3, at the law office of Montgomery Elsner and Pardieck, 308 W. Second St., in Seymour. The event, designed for low-income residents, will take place from 3 to 5 p.m.
The Legal Aid Clinic/Pro Bono Program utilizes local volunteer attorneys to offer free legal consultations to low-income individuals, providing legal advice and assistance in furtherance of equal access to justice within the community to those who might not otherwise be able to afford the counsel of a lawyer.
Individuals coming to the Legal Aid Clinic can expect to receive a 10-minute consultation with an attorney who will answer general questions and offer legal advice, in person, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.
Attendees will receive free legal advice on a range of civil legal matters, including adoptions, family law (such as child support, custody, and divorce), landlord-tenant issues, powers of attorney, protective orders, simple wills, and small estates. No criminal law questions will be entertained.
If you can't attend this clinic, visit legalaidpbi.org/services to find additional clinics and other ways to receive free legal assistance.
