NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The Jennings County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) was dispatched to a report of a 4-year-old boy with autism who had wandered away from home in a rural area of Jennings County on Sunday evening, November 1.
Detective Allen Ritchie, a member of the department's newly formed drone team, responded and located the child within minutes.
JCSO recently added three drones as part of the continued efforts to improve public safety and enhance emergency response times.
The drones provide valuable assistance in a variety of situations, including searches for missing persons and other emergencies where an aerial perspective can make a difference.
Investing in technology like this allows the Sheriff's Department to improve response capabilities and ultimately provide a higher level of service.
JCSO said, "We are thankful for the safe outcome of this incident and remain committed to using every available resource to protect the citizens of Jennings County."
