FREETOWN, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractor E&B Paving, Inc. is scheduled to close State Road 58 over a tributary to the South Fork Salt Creek on or after Thursday, April 16, to complete a box culvert replacement project southwest of Freetown.

The closure will take place between State Road 135 and South Fork Salt Creek. S.R. 58 is expected to reopen in mid-May, weather permitting.

During construction, motorists should use the official detour route, which follows S.R. 135 to U.S. 50, then to S.R. 446, and finally back to S.R. 58.

This project is part of a $6.8 million contract awarded in July 2025. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work schedules are subject to change.
