SEYMOUR, Ind. - Schneck Medical Center invites the community to join in a moment of reflection and remembrance at the "Sparks of Strength" ceremony, honoring those who have battled colorectal cancer.

During the event, participants will receive a blue tea light, symbolizing colorectal cancer awareness, to pay tribute to loved ones affected by the disease.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to pass the torch by encouraging someone they know to schedule a screening colonoscopy, a vital step in early detection and prevention.

Schneck "Sparks of Strength" is on Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. in the Main Lobby of Schneck Medical Center, just inside the patient entrance.

Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. However, 90% of cases are curable if detected early. Regular screenings can identify and remove precancerous polyps before they develop into cancer, significantly improving outcomes.

If you are 45 or older or have risk factors such as smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, or heavy alcohol use, talk to your physician about scheduling a colonoscopy.
