COLUMBUS, Ind. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis says that south-central Indiana has the potential for severe weather beginning late Tuesday afternoon and continuing through early Wednesday. The threat is at an "Enhanced Risk" (level 3/5).
Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are possible, while the exact timing and location of each round remain uncertain. Atmospheric conditions will be favorable for strong to severe thunderstorms.
Tuesday afternoon and evening could bring damaging straight-line winds (60 mph), heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Hail and an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
Residents in Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Shelby, Decatur, Brown, and other nearby Counties should have multiple reliable ways to receive weather warnings and remain weather-aware. NWS will continue to closely monitor conditions and provide updates as confidence in the forecast increases.
