State Police conduct I-65 commercial vehicle enforcement patrol

JACKSON/BARTHOLOMEW COUNTIES, Ind. - The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post conducted a targeted enforcement patrol last week, focusing primarily on the unsafe operation of commercial motor vehicles.

During a short period of time on April 24, troopers in Jackson and Bartholomew Counties along I-65 issued 13 citations and 39 warnings. Troopers additionally conducted 11 commercial vehicle inspections, finding 18 federal motor carrier safety violations.

Two of those drivers were placed out of service due to violations that were discovered. One CDL driver was found to be driving with a suspended status.

Troopers conducted a lengthy crash investigation involving a commercial motor vehicle, assisted four motorists, and assisted the Columbus Police Department with the pursuit of a vehicle in Bartholomew County.

ISP will continue to conduct targeted enforcement patrols ("wolfpacks") in an effort to make Hoosier roadways safer by preventing the unsafe operation of motor vehicles.
