COLUMBUS, Ind. — Traffic pattern changes are in effect downtown as work continues on the city's water main improvement project.
Traffic is shifted to the southern two lanes of Second Street between Jackson and California streets while crews complete hot mix asphalt (HMA) patching.
Washington Street is closed at Second Street as crews remove brick pavers and patch the roadway.
After rush hour, the eastern lane of Brown Street will be closed for pavement patching related to the water main project. Patching is expected to take two days to complete.
Motorists should expect traffic to shift between lanes through next week as crews retire the existing water main and prepare the roadway for milling and overlay operations.
Drivers are urged to use caution, watch for workers and equipment, and follow all posted traffic control signs.
