COLUMBUS, Ind. - Community members who need their taxes done can sign up for free tax filing through United Way Bartholomew County’s "My Free Taxes" program.
Free tax filings are offered to qualified Bartholomew County residents who make $70,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers provide confidential and secure basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing.
Income tax assistance appointments will be conducted through mid-April at the Doug Otto United Way Center. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
Appointments can be made by calling the United We Help Line at 812-375-2216 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In 2025, the Volunteer Tax Assistance program put more than $1M back into the local economy by securing tax refunds and saving residents their filing fees.
Individuals who want to file for free online tax help can go to myfreeaxes.com.
For more information, go here or visit www.uwbarthco.org and click “Your Impact” and “Tax Assistance.”
