COLUMBUS, Ind. - Community members interested in participating in this summer’s "Columbus Riverfest: Ya Gotta Regatta," are invited to attend an informational team-captain meeting at 5:30 p.m. on May 28, at United Way Firehouse, 1304 Hutchins Ave., in Columbus.

United Way of Bartholomew County (UWBC) hosts the Ya Gotta Regatta, presented by Cummins. The upcoming informational meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about the event, asking questions, or exploring whether participation would be a good fit for them or their organization.

No registration is required to attend. Teams that officially register for the event will receive a cardboard kit to help recruit teammates and begin designing and building their boats.

Columbus Riverfest: Ya Gotta Regatta Presented by Cummins will be on July 31, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mill Race Park. The event will feature a cardboard boat race on Mill Race Pond, where teams will construct boats made entirely of cardboard and compete for a variety of awards, including a People’s Choice Award determined through dollar-for- dollar voting.

Each registered team will receive a dedicated fundraising page to collect donations and track contributions. Proceeds support the efforts to reduce poverty and homelessness across the community. In addition to the UWBC regatta, the event will include food trucks and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Teams and sponsors can register online here.
