COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested Dystiny Green, 29, of Columbus, on several charges after she attempted to disarm an officer during a Saturday morning disturbance.
Police responded to the roundabout at 11th, Brown, and Lindsey streets in regards to Green, who was walking in the area and attempting to stop cars. When CPD arrived, Green reportedly was yelling at patrolmen and refused orders to be quiet, so she was taken into custody. The suspect allegedly became combative while officers tried putting her inside a patrol car. According to CPD, during the struggle, she grabbed the top of an officer’s handgun and disengaged a safety feature on the holster before she was taken to the ground where additional restraints were placed on her.
After being medically cleared, Green was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, battery by bodily waste on a public safety official, and attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer.
