Jose’s Blog: Haunted Places in Columbus, Indiana

Columbus, IN, USA / QMIX 107.3

Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog, and my special edition for fall, and Halloween. I just finished rewatching It: Chapter 2 with my friend James, and that was fun. Surprisingly, I am a big coward at haunted houses, while I can watch horror movies like nothing. After rewatching It: Chapter 2, I came up with a great blog idea! Why not talk about haunted places here in Columbus, Indiana? Our beautiful hometown! Thanks for some research, and also stories that I have heard from so many people, Columbus does have some very eerie places filled with ghosts, or also creatures that have been found. Here is what I have found, and thanks to this, I will now ride my bike to these places during the evenings. Have fun!

Crump Theatre – Built-in 1874, this building has been used for hundreds of plays, and movie showings, but has not been operating anymore. It is now home to spooky encounters that people have had there. Shadows of men and children have been seen on the stage and the restrooms, and music has also been heard from the top of the big staircase.

Quality Machine and Tool Works – It is rumored to be the home to a former employee who hung himself because of a breakup. Shadows and missing objects have been reported.

The Haunted Railroad Bridge  The Railroad Bridge in Columbus is also haunted. According to the legend, back in the 1920s, a young woman became pregnant by a man in town, who refused to marry her. Instead of killing the baby, she waited until she gave birth, and they both jumped off the railroad. People have reported about a woman and a baby walking crying together near the bridge, and the railroad downtown.  There have also been reports about a creature with big glowy eyes near the bushes.

North High School – The auditorium has a ghost called, “Mikey”. Over a hundred years ago before there was a school, there was a dirt road that ran through the school, but more through the auditorium. A kid named Mikey was walking on the street when a man driving a horse and buggy ran him down. The exact spot where Mikey was killed is where the auditorium is today. If you are in the auditorium you can sometimes see Mikey out of the corner of your eye run past the stage. You can also hear and see Mikey in the sound booth or up on the catwalk. Mikey has also been known to turn off the lights. Many people have seen weird occurrences happen in the auditorium.
