PETERSVILLE, Ind. – An old one-room schoolhouse, built back in 1892, burned early Monday morning in Petersville.

Deputies with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) were called to County Roads 250N and 500E, in regards to a structure fire, at about 2:15 a.m.

Law enforcement found the building fully engulfed in flames. The blaze was extinguished by the Clay Township, Columbus Township, and Clifford Fire Departments. Columbus Regional Health EMS also responded.

BCSO says no injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is still being investigated by authorities.
