COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Jennings County man was taken into custody in Columbus for a suspected DUI after a minor three-car accident Tuesday evening. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to the area of Seventh Street and Central Avenue, shortly before 9:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they observed that one of the drivers involved in the crash, Michael Clark, 41, of North Vernon, was slumped over inside his vehicle. CPD also noted that the man seemed to have a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and was allegedly unsteady on his feet after exiting his car.
Clark was transported to Columbus Regional Health for a blood draw and later arrested, taken to Bartholomew County Jail, and preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
