ISDH confirms nearly 4,000 new cases of COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) reported 3,936 new residents with coronavirus on Wednesday. The state has confirmed that 941,120 Indiana citizens have been infected with the disease since March 2020.

ISDH also announced 72 newly reported deaths that occurred between August 9 and September 21. Overall, 14,836 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.

Johnson County certifies 23,609 cases, Jackson County has had 6,567, Jennings County veriifies 3,531, and Bartholomew County reports 10,542 cases of the virus.

Health officials are still encouraging residents to get vaccinated. According to ISDH 55% of the state’s population, ages 12 and older, are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
