FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin Community Schools (FCS) announced Tuesday that the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) recognized Dr. David Clendening as the Superintendent of the Year for 2022.

Earlier this year, Clendening was selected as District V Superintendent of the Year, which was one of just eight in the state. Of those eight finalists, IAPSS chose Clendening.

Since joining the FCS district in 2009, Clendening has implemented new Project Lead the Way classes, funded efforts to improve mental health, increased school safety, and raised teacher salaries.

He will now represent the state of Indiana in the National Superintendent of the Year program.
