COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) announced the retirement of firefighter Kevin Bennett on Wednesday. Bennett joined CFD in 2000 and will retire with 21 years of service to the city of Columbus.

During his career, he acquired several technician-level certifications including hazardous materials, swift water rescue, vehicle/machinery rescue, and rope rescue. He also obtained a paramedic certification.

In 2015, Bennett was promoted to Lieutenant and served as a company officer for five years. Additionally, he was heavily involved with the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.
