Six arrested after JNET finds weapons, meth lab inside Columbus home

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Six individuals were busted after officers from the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) allegedly located weapons and a methamphetamine lab inside a Columbus home on Tuesday night.

SWAT members, consisting of officers from the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at 150 S. Brooks St., at around 10:30 p.m. The warrant was part of an ongoing JNET investigation regarding weapons and illegal narcotics.

Police supposedly found firearms, one with the serial number removed, plus drug items, 73 grams of meth, and a meth lab inside the home. Six people were arrested and taken to Bartholomew County Jail.

Joshua Dewey, 40, of Columbus, was charged with dealing in meth, manufacturing meth, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Matthew Havidic, 58, of Columbus, is facing charges of possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. The other four: Randall Garris, 50, Darlene Jenkins, 56, Jason Fields, 43, all of Columbus, and Angel Sanders, 45, of North Vernon, were booked for visiting a common nuisance.
