COLUMBUS, Ind. – The United Way of Bartholomew County (UWBC) is honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., by again organizing and participating in the annual MLK Day of Service on January 17.

On this day, Americans honor Dr. King through service projects that strengthen the community and empower individuals. County residents are invited to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy by participating in volunteer projects for United Way’s mission and certified partners.

UWBC volunteer opportunities to honor Dr. King and his legacy are available by going to uwbarthco.org and clicking “Volunteer.” Many non-profit and social service organizations post their volunteer needs on this website.

“The national MLK Day of Service helps embody the giving spirit Dr. King showed throughout his life,” said Alicia Monroe, Volunteer Action Center Director. “United Way and the Volunteer Action Center seek to honor our community by making Bartholomew County a better place to live.”
