Schneck now offers robotic-assisted joint replacement

SEYMOUR, Ind. – Schneck Medical Center in Seymour has announced that it is now one of the few facilities in the region to offer Mako SmartRobotics. This advancement in joint replacement surgery transforms the way total knee, partial knee, and total hip replacements are performed.

“With Mako SmartRobotics, I know more about my patients, and I’m able to cut less. For some patients, this can mean less soft tissue damage; for others, greater bone preservation,” said Kris Williams, DO, Schneck Orthopedics. “Patients experience less pain, less blood loss, fewer days in the hospital, and faster recovery compared to manual techniques.”

Mako’s 3D CT allows the surgeon to create a personalized plan based on each patient’s unique anatomy before entering the operating room. During surgery, the surgeon validates the plan and makes any necessary adjustments while guiding the robotic arm to execute that plan.
