WHITELAND, Ind. — Resources of Hope, in Whiteland, has announced its first Foster Teen Shopping Spree, a shopping extravaganza for the community’s foster and kinship teens. It will take place on Tuesday, May 30, at 6 p.m. Teenaged youth in foster or kinship care will be taken on an all-expenses paid shopping spree to a local retailer.

This opportunity was made possible through a donation funded in whole by the congregation of Greenwood Christian Church in Greenwood.

“Many foster teens enter care with very little and often lack basic necessities like clothing and personal care items,” said Renae Furnee, Executive Director of Resources of Hope. “This shopping spree is a chance for them to get the things they need and to feel like they have a support system in their community.”

Resources of Hope volunteers will join foster teens at Kohls, in Franklin, for the shopping spree. The teens will be given a budget to work within and will be encouraged to select clothing from a list of items including sweatshirts, jeans, underwear, socks, shoes, etc., plus they can get a personal item.
